How Many MIRACLES Can Happen in a WEEK!

This is Jadyn, Mason's best little friend from daycare. She’s 3 ½ yrs old and the granddaughter of my daycare lady, Tina. This last week, we’ve been able to watch a MIRACLE take place. As some of you know- last Friday, Jadyn was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was complaining that her “head hurt” and then she would throw up shortly after. This went on for about a week or two with the Pediatrician not knowing what was going on. After Jadyn continued with these symptoms (and with a big push from Grandma), her Mom, Heather, questioned her boss- a physician, who in turn consulted another good friend who is a Pediatric Specialist. The result-Jadyn was scheduled immediately for an MRI which confirmed everyone’s worst fear. The tumor was in the base of her skull on the right side. It was the size of a nectarine, and to top it off- there was a large cyst above the tumor that added to the pressure on her brain. The doctor’s said that the tumor had almost completely enclosed her brainstem and that her brain was slowly shutting down from fighting the constant pressure of the growing mass. After coming out of sedation following the MRI, she kept trying to get out of having to stay in the hospital. She kept saying, “Go to Grandma’s house-play with Mason!”

Needless to say, they immediately inserted a tube to slowly drain the cyst. After further review of her MRI, the Doctor determined that by its shape, that the tumor was probably benign. However, because of its placement-Jadyn probably would be MUTE for at least a year after the surgery and would not be able to use the right side of her body very well. Bracing for the worst- with the prayers and faith of many on her behalf, Jadyn was wheeled into surgery on Monday to remove the tumor. The morning of her surgery, I was driving and noticed a gorgeous RAINBOW that ended about in the same area as Tina’s house. I called Tina immediately to let her know about, what I took as, this GOOD omen. She said that she needed to hear that as Jadyn didn’t have a good night because she found a way to pull out her IV of morphine.

After about an 8 hour surgery, Tina texted us that it went well and that Jadyn was “laughing and wiggling all her fingers and toes!” Truly a miracle in itself!! The tumor did come back as “non-cancerous”. And her progress since has been absolutely remarkable as well! She could sing “twinkle-twinkle little star” and her ABC’s and could name all the names of all her friends from daycare! She is such a little trooper!!

The most amazing thing about all this was when Tina was telling me the importance of the cyst that was there by the tumor. By draining the cyst, it allowed there to be plenty of room for the surgeon to work to remove the entire tumor. Even if they HAD caught the tumor earlier, the cyst wouldn’t have been there and it would have been a lot more risky and difficult of a surgery. The Doctor’s would’ve had to move around more of the brain to get to the tumor and that’s always riskier for the patient’s recovery. Heavenly Father sure knows what he’s doing!

Jadyn has had the best possible outcome for such a scary ordeal! Through helping this family go through this, it has reiterated to me that even though we don’t know why…everything happens for a reason! Also, that when people, with different religious beliefs, come together and unite in the sole principles of Faith and the Power of Prayer…MIRACLES HAPPEN!!!

Kids Say the Darndest Things...

As many of you can attest to.... you end up reading the same bedtime story over 1,000 billion times to your kid in their lifetime. Most of the stories you can recite in your sleep and backwards, standing on your head! Such is the case with this story- it's one of the VeggieTales books "The Goody-Good Glasses" It's a great story and one of Mason's favorites, but like so many others- as you're reading, you just hope and pray that there will be a surprise ending that you never noticed before! And that it'll save you from reiterating the same 'ol storyline you've read over and over! Am I right?! I know I'm not alone on this! :)

So the other night- IT HAPPENED!!!! I was going along with the story, fighting back my seventh yawn when, all of a sudden, we turned the page and Mason gave a totally different perspective on the picture we've seen countless times. Now many of you know that we are in the middle of potty-training -which is not going so well, so don't ask! But this may mean we're starting to make some progress again! Mason sat up with his blankie, pointed to the picture and said, "OH NO! (a bunch of Mason jibberjabish)---POOP!"
I've never even thought about it before, but after looking at the picture again- He was right! The little broccoli DOES look like he's taking a POOP! I couldn't stop laughing! After gaining some composure, I found Ben-told him what happened and mentioned to him that we need to start screening these books a little better!!!

I'll let you decide for yourself!!!! HA! HA! HA!

Who sings better? …In public?-Ben does!

Who is smarter? Ben is. He asked me to marry him- didn’t he?

Whose temper is worse? Mine. I lay the silent-treatment on pretty thick. I’m sure it’s not the healthiest solution. But it gives me time to figure out exactly what I’m mad about and what to say without “kitchen-sinking” the argument! (It means throwing in EVERY issue AND the kitchen sink! )

Who does the laundry? ME!!!!! Ben ALWAYS forgets to use the downy ball and thinks that separating lights and darks is a waste of time! And don’t get me started on delicates… :)

Who does the dishes? Ben- My favorite is when he insists that dishes need to soak for at least a day! But I’m not complaining- I HATE doing the dishes!

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Ben right now. This might be weird but—we actually rotate from time to time. I steal his side of the bed ‘cause sometimes it just feels more comfortable. He’s so GOOD to me!

Who pays the bills? BEN- That was a pre-requisite before I married him. He’s really good at it!

Who mows the lawn? ME- He’s a pro at weed-whacking. So we make a good team!

Who cooks dinner? McDonald’s!!

Who drives when you are together? It depends… if we need to get somewhere fast, then I drive. But, if we can take our time…Ben!

Who is more stubborn? Probably me! –no comment!

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Please note above stubbornness answer…..THAT WOULD BE BEN!

Whose parents do you see the most? mine…

Who proposed? Ben on a white horse wearing a big ‘ol crown!

Who has more friends? I have the stronger need for a social network/outlet. HOLLA!

Who has more siblings? I do- #5 of Seven kids. Ben is #2 of Five.

I'm adding A "TAGGED" PERSON!

I'm tagging Brittany T. as well as those I mentioned below! I'm sorry Brittany- I thought that Marcie originally tagged you on her blog. Then, in the middle of the night- I realized that it was the other Britteny. (different spelling!) I don't know why I always realize the most randomest stuff during the middle of the night. Its a phenomenon that I just can't explain!

Also, on a side note- IF anyone that I already tagged does gets back to me on their answers... I won't post your answers unless you give me your permission. I just thought I should clarify. :)

We were REALLY looking forward to a "MILD" Winter!

Yes- we heard all about the "Mild" winters here ,where they usually got only about an inch of snow that never sticks! Many people here have blamed us saying that we brought the snow with us from MT. The news has reported that this is the most snow this region has seen in 10 years! I know you're probably thinking, "WOW! They must have at least 3 feet of snow!" Well- not exactly... The most that it dumped here was about 5 inches in one night! Hardly anything to bat an eye at.....I agree. But, you have to take into consideration that they literally have ONLY TWO Snowplows and a lot of CALIFORNIANS! (No offense Trysh!) We've had about 4 major snow storms and the biggest one dumped 5 inches, but after each storm-the snow would melt completely in about 8 days. Still, having said that, we have built more snowmen here than we ever did in MT. Probably because Mason loves them so! He treats them like one of the family. :)
We ventured up to McCall for their annual Winter Carnival. It was pretty neat! That area is gorgeous and under about 4 feet of snow! (as you can tell from the pic's) They had all these ice sculptures and parades. After seeing all the sites, we found on our way back home, the coolest little Hot Springs ever! It was a real nice setup! It had 3 pools that gradually got cooler from pool to pool. It was out in the middle of nowhere, but was set up like a small resort pool. Mason LOVED it! I think he thought that we all were just taking one big, giant bath. Then when they lit all the torches around the pool at night, he was beside himself. It was AWESOME in every sense of the word and nature at it's finest! We'd love to let you see for yourself! We've had a fun winter, but we are definitly ready for Spring! I MISS MY FLIP-FLOPS!!!! :)

Winter Fun Times!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Mason awoke this morning to help me make...(yep-you guessed it!)..pink, heartshaped pancakes for breakfast with pink milk and pink yogurt. I should've included a picture of the kitchen after we were finished! HA! You would have thought it snowed in there with all the bisquik powder all over! Luckily he loves to swiffer! :)
I decorated inside Ben's truck with v-day garland and rose petals, stuffed animals and candy. The guys at work probably gave him a hard time for that!
I am so much in love with my two valentines and I look forward to watching our love growand evolve throughout the eternities. Love to you BOTH!

Mason turns 1!

They say to have a child is "to forever have your heart running around outside your body." I finally understood that when I first held you in my arms! I knew that my life wouldn't be the same and that I wouldn't want it to. This last year has gone by so quickly, yet we've learned so much about each other. You've shown us your happy-go-lucky spirit, your determined will and your infectious sense of humor. You've taught me so much about unconditional love and how patience REALLY is a virtue. I'm so glad that you chose us to share your life with. And I look forward to all that is to come-Happy Birthday my little man!

Our BIG Move!

Well in an effort to catch everyone upto date on our family- In April of 2007, we moved to IDAHO! This is me driving the big U-haul truck and towing the car behind it. You can tell that I'm trying to look all cool and relaxed, but I think my white nuckles give it all away! I'm screaming inside!!!
This is our house that we bought. Behind it is a 10-acre pasture, a park with a fishing pond, and a straight shot view of Bogus Basin Ski resort. It's not the same as the Bitteroot Mtns, but it's pretty close! We are very happy with our decision to move here. It hasn't been all puppies and rainbows, but we feel that Heavenly has truly blessed us because of our faith in him and

his plans for our family.

New to all this!

Well here I am starting my new family blog. I've been inspired by other friends and family that are doing this. I think it's a great way to keep in touch and also kill my guilt for not being very good at keeping a journal or calling as often as I should. So please be patient as I get the hang of this. Also if you have any tips or shortcuts to this, feel free to throw them my way!
